The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie embarked on an inspection tour of the Handover Center (the HoC) for e-waste at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) in Accra. The HoC will serve as a storage site for all e-waste collected in the country. During the visit, the minister informed the workers to work hard to complete the project on time because this was one of the most important project on government's agenda. At the time of the visit, the project was 65% completed and is expected to begin full operation by the end of October 2022. The contractor of the project (Memphis Metropolitan Ltd) was positive that the project would be completed by October. Once completed, the Handover Center will not only provide jobs to people but will ultimately reduce the improper disposal of e-waste. The Minister was accompanied by Director PPME, MESTI madam Lydia Essuah and other staff of the ministry.
